What is the best way to "whiten" a light background in a photo of a light product?
There are pictures like this:
The background is very light, but not white. It must be made white. Stupidly cut will not work - you need a shadow. Replace Color is also so-so - the color of the item itself changes significantly. Wipe with an eraser? Not neatly....
The solution still seems to me in cutting and adding a shadow. However, there are quite a few photos, I would like to somehow simplify the process, BUT not at [significant] damage to quality

In general, the fastest and most accurate way is this: a magic wand! Ta-yes!))
Specifically for this photo, Tolerance=16 was set for the Magic Wand tool, after which, in the Select and Mask mode, the Edge Detection -> Radius slider was moved with the Smart radius checkbox turned on. I added the resulting selection to the layer mask and made a white background, although you can just fill it with white, but I like the maximum editability.
Pros:
1) quickly, efficiently and semi-automatically,
2) the color of the product does not change AT ALL, which is critical.
The only jamb that you can get to the bottom of is that the shadow of the product turns out to be sharper, but I think this is a consequence of the fact that the background has become lighter (more precisely, white), which makes the shadow gain additional contrast.
1 option. New adjustment layer - Levels - White eyedropper on the background.
Option 2. Double click on the layer.
With or without Alt, move the white sliders.
In the second option, add a white layer under the photo.
