What is the best way to post a blog on the internet?

Hello. I have a website about games. I decided to make my own blog, where I will write about my life, thoughts, and so on, of course, the blog also deals with gaming topics.

How best to host a blog? Buy a separate domain or so site.com/blog, or blog.site.com?
Put a new wordpress on the blog or make an arbitrary post type for the blog in the site engine?

Think rationally: a blog is needed to attract additional traffic and increase the behavioral characteristics of the site. Why then do it on a separate domain or subdomain, which is a separate site for search engines.
Make a blog on your main site so it looks like site.com/blog.
This will be useful for the overall seo of the site, since useful blog posts will help rank the entire site higher (also get a repost or mention on a blog article much more).
Using a separate domain or subdomain like blog.site.com is a waste of time + you need to start promotion from scratch.

Blog - you raise it on a separate domain and position it as a personal blog.
From a game-themed site - make all links through webmaster.site.com and link this name to your blog site.
Now, when you visit any address through webmaster.site.com, pages from your blog will open.
And when you delete a site with a gaming theme (site.com) - your blog will remain untouched.
Be sure to use the rel=canonical tag for your personal blog domain on pages from the webmaster.site.com domain!
