What is the best way to get website traffic statistics?

There is a task to receive attendance of several sites. Can you tell me the best way to implement this? There are two options:

  • Use the API of systems like Yandex.Metrica, having received a token from webmasters in advance
  • Write your attendance counter and ask webmasters to post it

The first option seems to be the most logical. The only question is whether webmasters will want to provide access to Metrica statistics, because it seems impossible to restrict access to only certain data. In the Metrics API, there is a division only into "reading" or "reading and writing". When getting read access, the application gets access to all the most detailed statistics, which webmasters may not like.
Writing your own counter seems to be an extremely non-optimal and time-consuming task.
Please tell me the best way to implement this.

Give webmasters the right to choose and explain all the pros and cons. You must have such a decision and such. This is optimal from the client's point of view. There is nothing complicated in writing your own counter. Look in the direction of ready-made solutions.
