What is the best way to freelance as a web designer?
History:
I have been actively immersing myself in the world of design for half a year now.
It all started with a presentation. I had to make a beautiful presentation, I got excited about this idea and read various articles for several days, trying to make it “perfect”. I fucking loved this job. Over time, I began to create flyers for myself and friends, this was my hobby. I started getting more and more drawn to design, and eventually I tried my hand at logos, typography, photo retouching, graphic design, and even t-shirt design. But most of all I fired up web design.
I haven’t completed any design courses, I don’t have any “diplomas”, but I feel very confident in this area.
Now I have about nine website layouts under my belt, but they are all non-commercial.
My portfolio: here
I recently decided that it was time for my passion to develop into a profession. And I need advice .
1. Please evaluate my portfolio and name an approximate price for my landing page and a full-fledged website. (I only had orders for flyers, banners, etc., but I am very familiar with web design prices)
2. Advise me on the best way to find customers. My ideas: freelance exchanges (you can recommend the best one), classic message boards, try to get a remote job in a studio, offer redesigns to owners of bad sites.
3. What is the best way to find layout designers?
I will be very grateful for the answer. By the way, if you have a job for me or you are a layout designer ready to work with me, write too.

1. 5,000-10,000 rubles
2. Most of the owners of bad sites are deeply convinced that their site is the best, you don’t have to waste time humiliating people because, as a rule, all tasteless sites were made by the customers themselves) Freelance exchanges, studios, yes, it’s normal.
3. There is no place where you can go, take a layout designer and live with him soul to soul. Be prepared to try 5, 10, 20 times to work with new layout designers, because finding a person who shares your views on work is just as difficult as finding a life partner (wife / husband). In addition, do not forget that in this bundle you can also be a bad partner) Search on the same freelance exchanges.
1. ~5,000 rubles for a landing page, ~10,000 rubles for a website.
2. Well, I would do it on the exchanges, but you need to understand that in the beginning you will have to work for food and beg customers to give you projects and reviews. In Russian: FL.ru, but it’s better, of course, not to meddle there and not waste time and go straight to the foreign Upwork. Divide the price tags indicated by me by 2-3 at the start. In the future, learn to set the price yourself.
3. On the same exchanges. Work with different people, see how someone communicates, who makes sites that fit the layouts better, load faster, who is just a pleasure to work with. From the first time you are unlikely to get to the point.
- do you know how to do something?
- ...
- then freelancing
Well, if on business, then working on commercial projects is not the same as fictitious projects for yourself, you have to learn to understand the customer, not to do extra work, to meet deadlines and restrictions. Restrictions are generally the most valuable and the more there are in the description of orders, the better.
Hi,
1. Prices are relative:
- If you just want to design, $100-$1000 per layout/website.
- If you are ready to provide a broader expertise, take on much more responsibility and expand the scope of your duties, i.e. not only to draw beautiful pictures, but also to hand over the project on time, not to ignore customers, to know how to make a selling website, A/B tests, etc., $1000+.
2. You have the right ideas for finding customers.
3. On stock exchanges, freelancing, fl, workzilla kwork and others.
The portfolio consists of completed orders that you can touch, open the site, poke buttons or read customer reviews, you don’t have a portfolio yet, but just pictures.
