What is the best way to connect ssd to laptop?

So, I have a laptop with installed hdd and dvd drive. I want to connect instead of dvd ssd. And the question arose:
connect ssd through an adapter to a dvd or ssd to a hard disk, and hdd through an adapter to dvd? Will there be any difference in speed?

Better SSD instead of a hard drive, and HDD through an adapter to DVD
Because you will obviously install the system on an SSD, and some laptops have problems loading from a DVD slot. There will be no difference in speed.
