What is the best way to become a successful programmer?

I live in a small town in Siberia. I was sent to study at a university in St. Petersburg, but they expelled me after the 1st session. Brought back, enrolled in the university here. There is an evening university here, 4 people go except for me, who are 30-40 years old, teachers from the village come and read articles from Wikipedia in lectures, and in practice they ask questions about what they have read.
One pair a day / every other day from 18.00, so I can’t study and work at the same time (work is everywhere until 18-20, so by the time I arrive at the university, everything will be over).
The question is - is it worth going to this university for 5 years or immediately go to work related to computers, for example, a PC operator at the Russian post office or a salesman in a computer store?

"I was sent", "I was brought", "I was recorded". Judging by these phrases, you personally do not need it. With such an attitude, even a mediocre programmer cannot become. IT in general is such an area where you need to run fast just to stay in place, and in order to get somewhere you need to run even faster.

a PC operator at the Russian post office or a seller in a computer store?

And how are these professions related to the programmer, as indicated in the question?
If you did not want to study, then education is not necessary for an operator or seller, although where and how.

Try to understand who you personally like to work with, and what is more in demand now; the first is more important =)
I would continue to study; if you leave the university and start working full-time, then it will be difficult to return to finish your studies.

To become a programmer, you need to program, and not think about how to do it better and more correctly.
you choose the direction:
- web
- desktop - mobile phones
based
on the choice you choose the language
1) choose the language
2) google the material
3) read \ see the material
4) google read? handsome, you go to special forums (google) and read them, communicate, ask questions that interest you.
5) practice, practice and practice, look for any programming problems and do them in the chosen language
6) does it work? Handsome (2) googled frameworks (bare language is not needed), googled? look for material and learn
7) could? handsome (3) set a task for yourself and solve it, do not know how to do something? google, special forum, toaster. The main thing is to try and practice, and practice again and ideally practice again.
