What is the best versioning system to use for graphics content?

The question arose: what is the best versioning system to use for graphic materials (heavy PSDs in large numbers)? Currently using SVN, which has already gobbled up 200 GB on each machine where the repository is used.
Are there any alternatives?

For 2D / 3D, in my opinion, it is more efficient to cut versions yourself. Within a milestone/version, the information is saved to the same file. Completed the stage - saved the file with the name of the stage in the file name or increased the number. Otherwise, without limiters, all this grows to incredible volumes.
