What is the best user to use on ubuntu vps server?

I bought a VPS, in the admin panel I see the login root and password. I log in via ssh as root. Now I will work with the site - create files, etc. Is it correct to do it under root?

Under the root is only configuring the server.
The new user should not have access to any other files than the home directory.
