What is the best system to install on a Macbook 7.1?

Everyone, good afternoon!
I have a 2010 Macbook 7.1 with a 2.4 intel core 2 duo processor and 2GB of RAM. The system has not been reinstalled on it since the purchase.
The official website says that it seems like Sierra will do, just some of the functions will not work. But, in my opinion, if it is established, it will slow down a lot.
What OS would you recommend upgrading to without sacrificing performance? And is it possible to install directly from the hard drive?

And try to consistently upgrade to Yosemiti or El Capitan and stop there?
If Pro-irf then put an SSD - be surprised.
And RAM already for Lion needs at least 4 GB. Your 8 GB supports 100%
