I use the explorer mostly, in some cases - FAR.
Let me explain - the size of the folder is a rather complicated and ambiguous thing. And often it is simply impossible to display it correctly.
Moreover, these data may not coincide and often do not coincide.
A folder can contain 100 GB of information, but it will actually take up 2 megabytes on a disk.
Or vice versa, in a folder that occupies 10 GB on the disk, there is information with a total size of less than 1 GB.
Therefore, you need to clearly define what kind of information you need - the disk space occupied, or the total size of the information placed in the folder.
Also, incorrect display of information about the size occurs due to lack of rights.
If you do not have rights to view the folder, you will not be able to find out its size either. This is in the area of security.

I use Total Commander , as for me, it is more convenient to operate files in it, and there are more functions

Take Double Commander - almost a copy of Total, and even support its plugins.
Not the best, but excellent.
but about "calculate the place", I support Artem Even
with reservations, but he described the reasons that you just ... I don’t know how to understand, but at least you don’t want to accept objective reality.

FAR Manager for those who work with the console more often.
Total or Double Commander for those who never plan to work with the console.
But in any case, the folder size may not be displayed correctly, given modern junction points, links and compression.

Nothing better has come up with Total Commander yet. And if you want - go to macOS. Finder is much better than TC, just a fairy tale: tabs, side menus, synchronization with your accounts (Google / Apple) and work with Google Drive / iCloud directly from Finder with saving documents and content in the cloud. Can freware FM do this on Windows? Windows - a world of pain with clumsy UX/UI (mobile and PC)
