Is the PC trying to boot over the network? Maybe check the boot sequence in the bios? If the network is not involved in the process, I would also check the jumpers on the ide devices. Which of them is the master, who is the slave. I always considered it right to connect the boot hard to a separate (good and new) cable, if there was such an opportunity. If everything is set up correctly, and replacing the cables / power supply does not help, I would turn to the idea of ​​replacing the hard drive. Or about checking it for bad blocks (given a year in the yard and using an IDE, this is more than possible). Power shuffling sometimes affects dying hards like a defibrillator: it goes nuts from shock and works for a while until it calms down. And, by the way, how is it on the motherboard with conders?
