What is better, 2 servers but cheaper or one 2xCPU server but more expensive?
My project is growing and 1xCPU server is no longer enough. There was an idea to move the database to a separate exactly the same server, it will be only 2 times more expensive. The second option is to rent a 2xCPU server, but it is 3 times more expensive. If 2 servers are in the same DC, will it be ok to separate the scripts and the database to different servers? Does anyone have experience with this scaling?

So you tell me - what is better for cargo transportation - two small pickup trucks, or a Kamaz dump truck?
2 servers means 2 points of failure, 2 times more troubles with administration. Some plus may be that you diversify the risks and be able to fine-tune the servers.
so that it turns out completely imperceptibly - it is necessary that they be in one switch, optical, essno, i.e. in one rack at least
when it comes to space or memory - one server is better,
but usually two servers are better than one as two channels of return - i.e. from one you can give a subdomain, or previews, and from the other, pictures, etc.
It’s not very desirable to split the database into a separate one, it’s better to have content, if you can do it - take two, is it too late with such growth - you will have to attach other servers
