What if a large company violated the copyright of a photo/image?

I would like to read information about such cases and a description of what needs to be done in order to be able to competently protect their rights in court.

Look here: photo-tochka.livejournal.com/253355.html
It describes a case when a newspaper used someone else's photo

1. If a large company has violated your Copyrights, then you should:
- write on habré
- write in hard copy
- send to friends
- consult with lawyers
- try to get the maximum dough out of impudent fat-assed capitalists
2. If you downloaded 100 films and 100500 music compositions, you should:
- blame copyists
- blame Mikhalkov
- fight for freedom of information
- vote for a pirate party
- demand that you get paid for it
PS No offense to the author, maybe he is an honest person, just how it looks from the outside.

First of all, inform this company that such and such material (if a magazine or newspaper, indicate the day / month / year of circulation, page and location on the page) was posted without your method and that you demand compensation for the cost and possibly apologize in the next issue , or exposure if someone subscribed to this material.
This must be mailed with proof of delivery.
Further, if within 4 weeks they did not answer you, go to court with the available documents (copy of the letter, confirmation of delivery).

Well, first you need to understand how you protected your copyright, in other words, how can you prove that you are the author of the photo? Already from this it is necessary to choose ways of influencing the company.
Secondly, what is your goal - to get money / mention yourself as an author / remove the photo from publication? Can we negotiate without going to court?
And links can be googled for the keywords "copyright protection for a photo."

Do you have the source of the photo in good resolution to print it on A3 sheet and take it to court?

@Ist

By the way, how will it be possible later to prove that this was the very violation if the “thief” deleted the entry on the Internet where he used the material?

Buy a domain that is older than the date your copyright was infringed. Make a mini-site on it with a portfolio and a decently inflated cost of your work. File a lawsuit demanding a triple (let's not be greedy) refund of the cost indicated on the site +% of the illegally obtained income using your work.
And if they offer to negotiate peacefully, then it’s better to do so, because. the court may reduce the amount of compensation.
