How do studios track/protect their designs?

I'm wondering, I went to the site of a popular studio in our country. There's a clone museum there, how did they find them? Those who slammed their design? And how can you legally protect your design? Another question about the code. Is it possible to introduce a tracking code into the site, so that for example, if the site was stolen with the code, then I would receive the address of this site itself.

Suppose you made a site with a unique design for a customer, the customer paid,
and both you and the customer have a hard time, and suddenly you find a design licked from your site on the Internet, while your site has a bold © with the name of your studio.
What is the problem? Everything suits everyone, you can sue for copyright infringement, or you can consider it as an advertisement for your studio, do you need hemorrhoids with defending your rights in court? And by and large this is already the problem of the customer.
What for you to spot it, let the customer spot it, during this time you will play another unique design :)

An incomprehensible offer. How can your website code be stolen?
Legally you will not protect especially in the CIS countries.

Does anyone else, besides "this-most-studio", bother with clones and plagiarism?
For this studio, another PR reason - look, they steal from us, which means we are the best.
That's all.
Who is tracking? Users send, there are many more fans of this studio.
