What hardware to choose for a web server?
Which hardware is better for web server purposes (apache, ningx, php, mysql...)?
Rackable systems c2004 or HP ProLiant (658553-421) ?

For a web server, many weak servers are better than one powerful one.
You need to understand the concepts of horizontal and vertical scaling before asking questions like this.
Partially agree with @Anonym , the problem is that existing interpreted languages are not able to make good use of all the hardware power of the hardware.
It all depends on the projects you will be hosting.
And from how crookedly they are written ... but usually very crookedly.
It's better to take a couple of small VPS'ok - make sure that they cope with the loads, and automate deployment tools: write scripts and recipes with tests.
