What happens to the IP address on the client after the lease expires?

There is one piece of hardware on Linux that has no network settings - this piece of iron can either get an IP address from DHCP, or if there is no DHCP server on the network, it takes a random address on the 192.168.0 subnet
. the piece of iron worked in a subnet 10.10.1.*, at the same time the DHCP server in this subnet is not present.
I can temporarily connect a router to the subnet and use it to give her an address for a maximum of 72 hours.
Attention to the question: What will happen to the network settings of this piece of hardware if the lease expires and there is no DHCP server on the network?

In theory, after the lease expires, the piece of iron will climb into the network for new parameters and, not finding DHCP, will leave the old ones, but this greatly depends on the TCP / IP stack of this piece of iron, so you should check it just in case.
