What happens if the PC case fan stops?
Greetings. Actually there is a noisy (26 dB) backlit fan. I want to block the blades (wire to the body) so that they do not spin, but the backlight remains. Anything bad can happen as a result of such manipulations?
PS: I'm too lazy to go for a separate backlight as well as for a quieter fan =)

Well, if, apart from noise, it doesn’t carry any additional payload, then why not.
Simply remove the impeller - in most cases this can be done with brute force.
Or unsolder/bit off any wiring that goes to the impeller.
If the room temperature is normal and this is not the only fan - nothing.
If the room is warm, poor ventilation, if this is the only fan in the case - the computer can overheat and freeze :)
And yes - it's better to bite off the wires to the impeller, because the fan can buzz or buzz if you just block it.
