RAID

What happens if one of the HDDs in RAID 1 is different from the other?

I have a software based Ubuntu RAID 1
I want to clone one hard from the RAID array the moment I boot from the Live CD
which will just see sda and sdb.
Before I run dd, I'll remove all 0 bytes, and then I'll do a clone.
Accordingly, sda and sdb will be different - will everything be ok after starting the usual ubunta,
which will initialize the software RAID?

@perminov_dot_im

crap will be. it is better to remove the disk using mdadmin and synchronize the new one in the same way
Livecd will see the same array by default
