What happens after logging into Linux Mint?

After I enter the password and login to enter the session, a black screen hangs for a very long time. I understand that some programs and Cinnamon are being loaded. The screen hangs for about 4-12 seconds. It does not provide any aesthetic pleasure. Therefore, I'm interested to know how the system boots up after entering the login and password, i.e. what specific processes, in what sequence. As a result, I wanted to hang some kind of splash screen on this black loading screen.
Operating system: Linux Mint 16 Petra Cinnamon.

Take a look at /var/log/syslog right after booting.
