Until now, there was a home server on Debian with Samba and Internet distribution through masquerading. I also installed the linux version of VirtualBox. At the moment, there is a "garbage" with functionality that does not satisfy me - Samba does not read all codecs, VirtualBox sometimes crashes and resets drivers, and many other problems. I decided to take on a full-fledged setup in order to fix all the jambs and do everything in good faith. Advise how to arrange everything correctly. Perhaps it makes sense to divide everything into virtual machines, but then what is better to use. Advise software, I will also be glad to any suggestions on the topic "ideal home server-router".

Functionality:
Miktotik
dual wan internet (main channel + backup), auto-switching, etc.,
port forwarding, vpn tunnels out, internet distribution.
Vmki inside the hypervisor:

Samba не читает все кодеки

Samba вообще кодеки не читает, никакие, ибо это пакет программ поддерживающих работу с SMB.
