What firm mk to choose and language?

stm32 is good, but I think it's worth starting with Arduino and AVR. It is much cheaper and it is much easier to assemble a real device on them. There are Arduino compatible boards on stm32
on the return.

1. any cortex M4, C language
2. any cortex A8/9/53 + linux + C++
produce them all and sundry, probably the most easily delivered stm
about arduino you can forget, for professional development of them do not use.
you can also look at small controllers like msp430 - but they are specific, for battery power mainly.
