What does Yandex.Webmaster mean by sitemap changes?

"No changes found in Sitemaps since 02/01/2020.
Please check if Sitemaps need to be updated."

The links themselves, how many there were, remained. But the "Last Modified" column changes daily. It is not entirely clear why this message is issued then?
