Google has an initiative called Web Vitals. There they decided to unify different metrics for sites, highlight something basic and human-understandable (the names, of course, were not very intuitive chosen). There are now three main metrics:

  • LCP - Largest contentful paint. Roughly speaking, this is the loading time of the first screen of content (not the beginning, but the full loading of the first screen, with pictures).
  • FID - First input delay. The time for the page to fully load, in theory with all the scripts, after which you can fully interact with it.
  • CLS - Cumulative layout shift. Overall performance, how quickly the page redraws when the layout changes. It's not 1/FPS, but one of the factors that determines the responsiveness of a page, whether or not it freezes.

If you click on the blue ribbon next to the corresponding item, a page with more detailed information about what it is and what you should pay attention to there will open.
