What does buffered memory mean, what is error correction?

Buffered memory is an older term for registered memory.

In simple words: this is to cram a hell of a lot of memory into the server. 8, 12, 16 modules for each processor. Without buffering (on simple PCs), as you can see, only 2 or 4 modules can be installed on motherboards.
Error correction is good, but quite different.
