What do you need to understand when writing a client-server application with a database?
I bought VDS, wrote a simple socket server and client in Java.
Everything works, but I'm afraid that I'm missing something, because there are some other servlets, REST API, and other magic.
Should I get into this when all I need is a database and business logic? Maybe I will scale up.
PS Sorry for the tags, but what else to put here...

You can do whatever you want for yourself. It is necessary to do for others in such a way that it can be supported by other developers with minimal effort and a million other criteria
