What do you need to conveniently set up and administer a local network?

In general, I got a job as a system administrator at school. We have a three-story building, 45-50 computers, and equipment dlink des 1228 me. I have never used this before, I would like to know opinions about it and instructive articles on how to work with it. Also, the network was thrown lousy and a lot of things do not work or work but clumsily, which tester is better to buy? I myself look at 5bites express ly ct030 pro. What program is better to draw a network plan? Well, in general, everything is interesting in the direction of LAN administration.

1. If there are no problems with English, then the official documentation for it is almost 500 pages. There is a lot of things there, read it.
2. If you buy a tester, then you should decide for what purposes. If you check the operation of the line - it's easy, then you can buy it easier. If you want to figure out which lines go where, then this one is well suited, while the most demanding function will be measuring the length.
3. If it's just a plan - then a visio, or a pencil with a piece of paper. If something is interactive, then you need to dig in the direction of network monitoring software - draw a grid in it and follow it.

The network map is not always a picture)))
It can be a simple table where the network marking is indicated.
Switch Port 1 = 1 Cabinet, Left 1 Outlet
Switch Switch Port 2 = 2 Cabinet, Right Outlet 1
Etc.
The tester is good, but you don't need it, take a simple LAN tester
that shows 4 pairs. When you make a network map, you will view all the cores.
I also advise you to take a knife 110, and a bag of sockets. :)
Communication is the science of contacts.
Equipment dlink des 1228 me, unmanaged switch.
There is only one network management option. Make a normal router.
From the major options for the mikrotik school.
From the budget ones, we take any ancient system unit, the main thing is that it does not die, we install pfsense.

The network plan can be drawn in VISIO, but at first it is desirable to have a building plan at least in a good picture , and
then follow the tutorial
about administering switches, probably a WEB panel?

I draw in google drive. Tried several local options, but need access from different locations. I draw schematically the location of points in the offices.

English is a bit of a problem, but what is there to read about such switches? It’s just that I haven’t worked with such equipment before, but I couldn’t know this before, so I have to learn it in combat conditions. Tembolee there somehow strangely goes the Internet, 6 ports are open to it. Maybe there is someone who can help you figure it out through icq / skype, etc.? due to my inexperience, there are a lot of simple questions =(

Using D-link, I tried to administer a network on it (600+ PCs) - it's terribly inconvenient, with respect to such vendors as CISCO, HP, Juniper, so they quickly jumped off this brand. All learning is exclusively through the official manual + D-link has a good collection of books on networking (which provide examples on administration). All in Russian, I advise!
As for the bad installation and tester - depending on the needs. If there is a bad installation, then a tester with a counterpart will probably fit (ps I myself use fluke at 2000).
As for documenting the LAN, I use visio to build logical diagrams (a la the cable came from the provider, inserted into the port of the router, from the wiring router there). In Excel, I keep a switching table up to users (a la this patch panel port to this switch port).
About the interest in LAN administration - start with the CCNA video lessons from Cisco (+ as already mentioned in the D-link books), then you can deepen your knowledge in the areas of network security - firewall.
