Non geeks will most likely call them iPad. Samsung's iPad, Apple's iPad...

I live in Canada and have heard nothing but "tablet" (or very rarely "tablet pc").

On the same technical crunch, tablet is quite successfully used. I think that this is quite the correct English name for this type of device.
