What direction in freelancing is more popular and profitable?

Good evening.
To understand my question, you need to know a little background.
Since the age of 12 I have been programming, html, php, mysql, delphi. But he did not go further than easy projects. In general, I was engaged in delphi purely for my own interest.
After that, he switched to design, made up, drew logos, developed layouts himself.
Then he began to understand the texts that sell and not only. Studied infostyle.
Then I returned to Photoshop and began to retouch photos.
What is the actual question. I tried a lot of things, but didn't specialize in anything.
At the age of 17, he took up his studies to enter the university.
Entered. Now I want to start freelancing. I don’t know what to delve into and what service to use. A lot of time has already passed.
Please advise.

To make money on freelancing, you need to "not try", but to be able to do something well. It doesn’t matter what, but be able to do it well and on time (!), Then any business will be profitable and customers will stand in line.

Any of the modern directions is quite monetary. If you are a pro.
To earn a lot you need to be a pro.
To become a pro - you need to develop yourself for a long time.
Conclusion:
Do what you like. So that you improve in this for a long time and do not force yourself to do it.
Go to any freelance site, look at the tasks that they offer. Will you master them?
Well then go ahead.
In general, this is a bad idea.
In order to become a cool pro, you need to cook in a team of professional developers for several years.
The ones that are stronger than you.
Otherwise, you will have the next 10 years to do only simple (cheap) work.
After full-time (and not remote) cooking in the same pot with a pro (at least 2-3 years) - you will save 10 years on self-development.
At the current dollar exchange rate, foreign freelance is much more attractive than Russian.
upwork.com is the most promoted of the foreign ones.
Popular and profitable - this is incorrect.
Popular - a lot of work but also a lot of competition.
It is not directly related to income. There is a lot of competition for a reason, but because there are a lot of employers.

As far as I can see, Ruby and IOS are the best paid. Then ASP.NET and Python and Java, and server-side JS comes to the fore. Then everything else.
Here they write that no matter what, the main thing is good. Not certainly in that way. Well, that is, of course, it is necessary to do it qualitatively, in any case. But for the same quality in different languages, different money is paid. There is simply very high competition on PHP, which changes the position of the market. Sometimes it happens to me like this: I look - an awesome project on Upwork. Very interesting and serious. And they pay a lot of money. I'm already drooling. And then I see - ASP.NET (which I don't know).
I would probably start learning node.js, Ruby and iPhone things now (I don’t even know which is better now - Objective C or Swift). If I also looked at "what I like" - I would go deep into Java.

It is difficult to say which particular area is profitable in the field of trade, online stores are most often the organization of the site itself, copywriting and design, absolutely all areas are profitable and profitable, as it seems to me. The main thing is to prove yourself well and do your job.

What you are well versed in from mainstream areas - any.
You search on upwork, look at tasks, paying attention to rare ones as well.

Profitable is what you are a pro at and what you hammer for a long time (the so-called word of mouth turns on).
If you find out right now that I have a lot of money in Kubernetes, then you will need another 8 years before you catch up with me in terms of qualifications.
You need to improve your skills continuously. For years.
Therefore, you need to choose what you like.
There is money everywhere.
In the midst of an extremely depressed job market, the sheer desperation seen in the wars for software talent is incredible. Almost every day I see big companies, small companies, sophisticated entrepreneurs, start-up entrepreneurs, and even venture capitalists out on the hunt for smart heads. Talent hunters flood LinkedIn, set snares on Quora, and cast nets on Facebook and Google+. Cartoons of a bum-faced CEO holding a placard looking for a tech-savvy co-founder are circulating around. Hell, I myself am one of those hunters (by the way, is there a cool iOS developer among you who is willing to cooperate with me?).
Zealous newfound angel investors are ready to throw money into any project in which one or another strong developer participates, counting on the fact that even if this project fails, the opportunity to be in the forefront of investors in the next project of the same developer is worth it.
Entire startups were created solely to keep good development teams together.
Gold cages with jobs that come with gourmet buffets, high-tech sleeping quarters and day care centers are just the tip of the iceberg.
Basically, these are the mechanisms available to big - "too big to fail" - software companies like Google, Facebook and Microsoft. In a game where these major league players set the bar for monetary (and not only quality of life) rewards for work, and start-up startups take advantage of the fact that they provide a real opportunity to hit a truly big jackpot, no other type of business has any the slightest chance in the competition for big talent, no matter how much cash or stock he dumps on the negotiating table.

At the same time, there are a huge number of people who heard that you can make good money in IT and rushed there.
They know little and know little.
There are a lot of them. Huge competition.
Therefore, there is a funny paradox:
And taking into account the terrible competition, it is possible to get into the top salaries only by constant and continuous self-training. For years.
Therefore, you need to choose what you like to do.
So that it would not be boring to develop over the years.
