What CMS would you recommend for a hamster (blog + portfolio + a couple of whistles)?

Actually, it needs to be (or easily added with straight hands):

  1. Blog with tags and categories. With adequate addition of pictures and video. It is also desirable to auto-import from LiveJournal/Tumbir.
  2. Portfolio with sections (categories).
  3. Adding any modules - such as getting a feed from Twitter, etc.
  4. Adequate templating engine (to insert the laid-out html-template without dancing with a tambourine, but simply by copying the markup)
  5. To be written in PHP and work faster than WordPress

I'm not afraid of this link www.yiiframework.ru/doc/blog/ru/start.overview
In the archive with Yii there are already ready sorts.

I keep my blog on drupal. Of course, you need to finish it according to your needs, but in the end it works the way you want.

modx as a platform. There is a catalog of components, but you need to finish it to fit your needs.

What kind of server does the author have, what does WordPress slow down on it? And what version is it, by the way?

If you want to cut yourself, then modx.
If you cut only templates and the blog is in the center of everything, then you don’t have to worry about the speed of wordpress, this is 99% unimportant for any hamster and most sites.
