What cheap hoster to choose, giving bare metall based on desktop or used iron?
The task is - I need a server that I will not share with a neighbor, it is important with my own disks (let there be an hdd and a small ssd). linux. Cheap, at the cost of reduced reliability , but connected to the normal networks of the data center, and not the home provider (otherwise I would have used this option). Preferably not Russia, or rather, completely reluctant to deal with absurd blocking. Let it not be the fastest machine, with 8GB of memory (not ecc).
I tried the option with vps, after 4GB of ram it’s not enough cheap or overselling not childishly, it immediately lets you know the base price tag that this is a server and using ecc.
As an option, desktop video cards are interesting (because server ones from nvidia cost 10x from desktop ones of the same performance), not mining! I know about selectel, I look at them as the top bar of the price.
ps I remember exactly, there were talks that some data centers are experimenting with cheap machines based on atoms or celerons, of a weak configuration. In order not to pay a hundred bucks where the client does not need

The service is clearly unclaimed, I think you need to write to support and negotiate separately - if they have a ready client, they may agree, though it’s worth mentioning right away that if it’s a dead barn, there are no complaints against them;)
Why iron? You can take a virtual machine with 100% guaranteed resources. Even the domestic Yandex.cloud offers this. No one will deceive you, for such a player there are reputational risks than cutting you off on the CPU;)
Virtual machines have the main advantage - flexibility. Let's say your neighbor changes his mind, and you will really need your own part of this piece of iron. What will you do? :)
