What can replace the Unity Web Player so that interactive applications can be used?

Also, is it even possible to create interactive applications without using Unity ,?
The essence of the matter is this. The Educational Web Project has a course Descriptive Geometry and Engineering Graphics that uses the Unity Web Player. It does not work on all browsers, not on all systems, for example, it does not want to work on Debian. The organizers recommend Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera browsers, but even they do not always work correctly.
