What can a designer's portfolio consist of?

Greetings to all Toster participants,
As a novice designer decided to make a small page with his portfolio and immediately asked himself the question, what can be placed there?
I worked both with my own ideas and on contract and tender (freelance) works.
Can I place works there that were never approved, for example, at competitions, but which, in my opinion, deserve to be in the portfolio as an example of work and my skills?
Thanks in advance!

Everything that you consider worthy to reflect your talents and knowledge should be included in the portfolio, and what didn’t work out very well in a separate section, “developments”, sometimes the most absurd thing finds its admirers.
