What are the requirements for a system administrator assistant?
Good evening everyone. Help, please, advice/answer/hint.
Interested in the opinion of system administrators and their assistants working in Moscow.
The essence of the question: how to get into the sysadmin assistant? Are they needed now at all? What to expect, what to expect? Where to knock, how to pass interviews? What is the average salary for an assistant? What to teach in the first place (what I can see below). Does my case have any chance of getting into it?
What we have: a tower-humanitarian education. 23 years old. Last place of work - pr-agency, position - copywriter. Confident PC user.
What can I do: collecting and disassembling a PC / laptop without losing the patient's working capacity. Installing / configuring Windows (went all the way from Windows 95: D). Installing a Wi-Fi router (at least I did everything myself at home, it works). Installing / configuring the printer. Refilling cartridges. Installing the required software. I know how not to create problems, think before doing, google.
Why do I need all this: during my studies and work, I realized that I don’t like working in the field of marketing, PR, and so on. All his life he had a craving for the world of it, but on the advice of his relatives he went into the humanitarian field, because he had the ability for history / literature, etc.
PS I understand that the path of the administrator is difficult and thorny, however, like the path of any other position. I understand that I know very little now, I need to finish my education, and I have no right to count on much.
P. ss Maybe there are those who need a non-stupid student, I will be glad for a side job / job.

I will answer myself after +/- 3 years.
As a result, I achieved everything I wanted at the time of writing the question. I entered the it sphere, now I work as a linux system administrator, further plans are devops.
The path was like this - half a year in the technical support of the provider, then 2 years in the technical support of unix hosting and increased in the same hosting.
I write the answer rather for those who google something similar and may run into this thread. The main thing - do not be afraid and strive.
Having experience only in the humanitarian sphere, I understood that you need to shine in front of HR in order for you to be considered for a technical position at all. It took a long time to get the tower, I made a decision - I went to the courses. Courses in general turned out to be useless by a little more than 100%. In terms of money, I spent about 30-40k for 2 courses, in terms of time, about a month, maybe a little more (I don’t remember). But as a result, I received 2 certificates that I could attach to my resume. The goal was to get an invitation to an interview, and then to be torn to pieces by technical specialists.
I found a job 1.5 months after the end of the course. And they found me. There were 6 people at the interview (including me). They took me alone (I was very surprised).
IMPORTANT! According to my experience and the experience of colleagues / acquaintances (worked in different offices) - if you got into a provider, I recommend working for six months or a year, then go to hosting.
In the provider, you will gain knowledge on networks (it will come in handy in the future), but as a rule, the support in the provider is a very small fry, they don’t give access anywhere, it’s difficult to grow.
In hosting, you will already feel linux, set up various services.
Ps if newbies / students who wanted to start working come across this answer, you can write to me by mail, we periodically need people for technical support (Moscow).
that. Installing / configuring Windows (went all the way from Windows 95: D). Installing a Wi-Fi router (at least I did everything myself at home, it works). Installing / configuring the printer. Refilling cartridges. Installing the required software.
Depends on the size of the company) In large enough companies, this is really eniky and such are usually required - a minimum set of skills, the ability to google before doing and the desire to learn. Of course, it’s good when there is still minimal knowledge about the principles of building networks (at least to know how DHCP differs from DNS (except that the letters are different) and to distinguish the mask from the gateway (dadada, I somehow heard the answer the gateway is the third line in the settings)
) the rule is learned fairly quickly. It is possible to grow further from enikeya, there would be a desire and diligence.
ps if it's not difficult to contact me, we may soon have vacancies of such a plan.
System administrator is a rather loose concept.
That is, according to the title of the position, the range of tasks and responsibilities is not entirely clear.
And the assistant to the system administrator is something vague at all.
Therefore, just measure your skills with the tasks that you will have to deal with in a new position.
Enikeit, consider that these are the duties of a junior system administrator or assistant administrator, in any more or less small company they will teach you. The main thing is not to be afraid, no one will expect super results from you in the first days.
Even learned enikei, when they move from one job to another, experience problems of infusion into the business process of a new organization. You will be given a trial period. At this time, you will study, look at what processes are tied to you. Again, I repeat, do not fuss, but delve into the process, how and what is arranged in the company.
If you realized during the trial period that you got a job in a sharashka, then it’s better to run right away.
You will beat the budget for months. And then, in the sweat of your brow, run to change burned-out equipment.
Zero planning.
Ideally, the admin should be above you, but you may be lucky with the device and the admin is gone. Didn't hand over the case. Scrap everything for you. If everything is in order with the head, in six months or a year. You will adjust the whole structure as it should be.
You can just take a dutiful, inquisitive, adequate person who knows how to read technical documentation and write emails correctly) This is a lower position, they will not be trusted to solve real problems.
I worked in Moscow in a small trading and manufacturing company with two sites 2 km apart - full-time students with your qualifications or below worked as assistants. It was necessary to be at the second site for half a day, to resolve issues.
Then they would have taken it there too.
In general, you described everything that the enikey worker needs, so feel free to go and ask for all the offices, where they will take the thread. Well, there already gain experience in networks, servers, etc. and you will become an administrator. If there is a real desire, then the experience in half a year is enough to become a junior administrator.
