What are the popular engines for creating 3D games?

Good afternoon, Khabrovites.
Recently, I see more and more clones of the Lineage 2 game on the network (maybe not quite clones, but the gameplay is very close).
How do you manage to print them in such quantity? Is there any ready-made engine that allows you to do this? Or are all these "different" games the work of the same company? How expensive is it to create an online 3D RPG game?

And I repeat:
To begin with, I advise you to look at the report of Dmitry Devishev (Mail.ru) from KRI-2010. Dmitry talks about the difficulties of developing online gaming projects.

oops... Suppose you have:
1) 5-6 programmers
2) 10-20 modelers
3) 5 animators
4) 2-3 artists
And you want to make an MMORPG... in this case, the development tool will cost you:
1) Graphic, physically, audio engine Unity3d - 1500 USD
2) Photon network engine - 1500 USD for every thousand online players
3) Blender graphics editor for free
4) Photoshop - 1200 USD
Hardware is calculated based on - 2000-5000 players online = 2- 4 processors, i.e. 1-1.5 servers ...
Well, salaries.

La2 clones are games produced by NCSoft (just the manufacturer of La2), since, referring to clones, you apparently talked about Aion and the Atlantic. However, a more detailed study of the above games, gives an understanding that they are clones just by some external characteristics, and not by gameplay.
In Russia, NCSoft games are localized and published by Innova (4game.ru).
Regarding the high cost of creation, one can cite an example of Vova that has set everyone on edge. Blizzard claims that even with 500 million evergreens in your pocket, it will be impossible to make Warcraft.
However, let's assume that:

Not free. Salaries, traffic, hardware are still needed, but it is certainly possible to reduce costs at the time of design.
Unity3d and Photon (well, or SmartFox at worst) have free versions with limited functionality. Unity will also provide excellent tools for the development of landscape and flora)), and Photon is a ready-made module for the initial version of the MMORPG.
Traffic and hardware can be moved to the "cloud" for a minimal fee - you pay for what you use ...

By the way, about the 3D world, which is complicated... It's not the world that is complicated... IMHO, programming is 30% of the work))) Let me give you an example...
What should be the "Critical hit" correction factor for a magician so that his FireBall and a strike with two swords of a warrior have the same armor penetration rating at the mob?))
