vps hosting is determined not by the "number of visitors" and other nonsense, but by the amount of allocated memory, processor and disk (ssd / hdd) to your virtual machine. OpenVZ has a bunch of vague limits, so it's not worth buying.
And then everything depends on your application, how optimized it is, how tuned the demons are - depending on this, the "number of requests per second" will turn out.
