What are the minimum system requirements for server-based video surveillance with 22 IP Cameras?
Hi all.
I have 22 IP cameras with a resolution of 2mp, I want to organize the recording of an archive from cameras in 1080p and 265 codec on the server, without the viewing function on the server, using third-party software. Different products give different numbers for system requirements.
A question for connoisseurs is Xeon E5-2640 v3 2.6 enough for such requirements? If we approach the products more accurately, then these are Xeoma or Trassir.

Further, my personal IMHO based on long work with video surveillance.
On disks - these are consumables, purple - shit for my money)
I take things for non-critical things - WD blue (yes, I like them) or similar Siggates, Toshiba
If it's critical - wd black
Ost disks there is pure marketing, I'm talking about green in general I am silent
Now on chambers. I understand you will use a hick? Then the best choice is a tracer, just make sure that the licenses for the tracer channel for them will also come with the cameras, this is not now available for all hick models ...
Further - the hick has its own very good software - iVMS server, and it is free, up to 64 channels. If you just need to look / write down, then this is the easiest and cheapest option. I have it on many sites, it works very well.
Also, do not forget to allocate a SEPARATE disk for the system.
According to the calculation of the CPU - a modern i5, you have enough eyes. I

Dance from them.
The main CPU resources are spent on displaying the picture on the monitor. The recording itself does not eat a lot of CPU, because. there is already a compressed stream. In general - yes, Xeon is enough.
