What are the hardware requirements for network virtualization on Hyper-V (HNV)?

Something did not work out to find the answer to this question in the documentation. Does HNV generally require anything from network hardware (switches and network adapters in the first place)? Logic suggests that overlay networks generally do not care what is below them, but you never know.
