What are the best standards and technologies to use for a proxmox home storage server?

At home there is a server on which there is proxmox 6 and one working virtual machine. I decided to use the server for its intended purpose, the first from my home PC removed a 3.5 disk of 6 TB (due to strong noise, only the SSD remained) on which there was a steam toy library, a collection of movies and various personal files (work, photos, etc.) . Also found disks 2.5 1 TB 4 pcs. and connected to the server in raidz1 (total another 2.55 TB, I think that this will be a faster storage).
Now I'm thinking about how to allocate disks and how to make them visible to the main Windows PC.
Considering that the library cannot be added to a network drive in Steam, I found a solution that iSCSI disks can be used, so I deployed an iSCSI target in the container and created an iso image there with the command dd if=/dev/zero of=/storage/lun0.img bs=1M count=2048, but this way the iso fills the space immediately. Can someone suggest a more elegant solution?
I also plan to create a separate container with SAMBA for personal files and share it over the network, but again I don’t know how best to do it, in what format to store images in order to properly organize backups later? In general, my knowledge in the field of data storage technologies is not enough to do everything according to Feng Shui (

I found a very good article on Habré just clarifying my question. If I had stumbled upon it, I wouldn't have asked here.
In short - since proxmox and Open Media Vault are based on Debian, for a home server, putting them together on hardware (NAS not as a virtual machine or container), it's easier (no need to transfer the controller and / or disks to the VM) and more correct from the point performance for a given task.

It comes out completely out of order. You need a disk shelf, right? So what does virtualization have to do with it? Well, put xpenology in a virtual machine, although it will be very over the back - but iSCSI is easily done there. Here you just have horses and people mixed up - shelves are usually not dragged to hypers - they just make reservations for them - that is, they are not reserved , but reserved for them .
