What, and is it worth changing Macbook pro Late 2013?
Now for work I use Macbook pro Retina late 2013 8gb 512 SSD + external monitor with all the consequences (keyboard, mouse, speakers).
And the other day I thought that it would be time for me to upgrade my hardware - after all, 3 years of beech, and somehow the speed began to run out. Several IDEs, servers, tests quickly take the standard 8GB and switch to swap. Although I would not call this preload critical. Created an ad for the sale, satisfied with this, and began to wait. But I did not know the current situation in the MacBook market. And as I began to find out, it started ...
1. A new 15-inch firmware with 512 SSD (less, unfortunately, will not work) costs under 3 thousand. This is 2 thousand surcharges at least. Is the increase in performance worth that kind of money? 70% I sit with external monitors, so all the touchbars, touchpads, keyboards, retinas and id give me nothing
2. Someone may say "Take the 2015 proshku". There is some sense in this, but: it seems like you are taking a new laptop, and it will soon be two years old. Yes, and the design is not the same as compared to the new ones. Yes, and between 15 "2015 and 2016 there is a significant difference even in size.
3. 13" 2016. But damn it, there is no 16GB and a built-in Intel beard for such a price?
4. Leave the current one. Maybe, but now I can sell it by the piece. But then I won’t sell it at all, or I’ll sell it for a penny. And I still have to take a new poppy for a few pieces.
In general, I now caught such a dilemma that I go for several days and can’t solve anything. Constantly rushing from one to another and can not make a choice. What would you do in my place? Would love to hear more thoughts.

There is no performance gain, don't be fooled. The only benefit you get is more RAM. Do you really need it? Wait a couple more years. Late 2013 is a fairly recent model for poppy, many people use them for 5-7 years. For 2 years, technology has not changed enough to pay 2 pieces. And don't worry about the sale, poppies are sold regardless of the year of manufacture and for a normal price.
I'm going to stay on my late 2013 for another three years. And I advise you.
In any case, I would not change to a new product now - there was just a big update, I would wait at least a year until all the roughness is corrected, otherwise you can find yourself in the situation of the owners of the first retina.
In this case, only 15 "2015 i7 / 16Gb / 512Gb with discrete graphics is seen as an alternative (there will be a noticeable increase, because the processor is full-fledged, unlike 13" i7, where the processors are U). Price 180K. Yours will go somewhere in 70-90 if there are no external defects. Those. around 100k still need to be added. There will be an increase, but of course using it with an external keyboard, mouse, monitor - you lose 50% of what you pay such a lot of money for.
This depends on what you want. Power, the ability to grab it at any time and put it in your bag with you, then this is now the only option where the difference in performance will be visible.
But there are three more options if mobility is not as important as you write:
1. Get a Mac mini MD388 CU (they are in Moscow) with a full-fledged i7 (market price is about 50), deliver 16Gb RAM (+ 7-8k, there is another option to take a chance with two 16Gb dies, there is one model on the market Cruical, but it's not clear if they will start) and SSD to taste (+ 8-12k). The increase will be noticeable, even though the processor is of the third generation, but it is faster than many modern ones, because. in them the emphasis was on power consumption, you can see here by searching for "Mac mini (Late 2012)". For the price it will turn out - I sold the laptop, I bought a Mac mini. Without overpayments. At the same time, if you already have a moral readiness to spend another 100-120k, you can take an Air 13 "or a Macbook 2016 without a touchbar as an appendage for mobility and kill two birds with one stone.
2. Get the previous huge Mac Pro 2012. It will cost around 100k, there you can roam with the amount of RAM and drives. The machine is very powerful today, including. From the same link in the table, you can see that it comes right behind the current bucket-shaped Mac Pro. By the way, you can find it in perfect condition for 140-160k and the option is also very good, but more expensive.
3. If you have time, strength and perseverance, you can assemble a full-fledged hackintosh on modern hardware. YouTube is full of instructions "from and to" on the selection of compatible hardware and installation. There you can assemble a configuration for every taste from already selected components. The price for top solutions with 64Gb RAM, i7 Skylake, 1070 videos, high-speed M.2 SSDs will be around 150-180k, but the level of hardware is completely different. However, there will be crutches, you will have to tinker with the setting, something may not work the first time.
Do you have a 15 inch retina? Or not?
The difference is significant in the processor. There are 4 cores in 15 boxes. in all 13 boxes there are 2 cores (and it doesn’t matter i7 or i5)
I used to deal with them. And peretykat all models. I advise you to take any 15 box with a 4-core processor and the necessary RAM.
Here are the tests.

Buy a modern laptop with powerful hardware.
If you really need MacOS - pick up a laptop kit for hackintosh.
Yes, this is a collective farm, but do you need to work more efficiently or have a luminous apple on the lid? ;)
