Website design for a well-known brand in the portfolio?
Hello. Do I have the right to develop a free website design for a well-known brand and add it to my portfolio? The work is completely mine, but it is not legally fixed in any way. (roughly speaking, the artist was chosen by another, but I still decided to make a free design for the site and just show my vision). At the same time, the customer really wanted to order, but changed his mind at the last moment.

Legally, this is completely legal, moreover, work is often posted on Behance, where they offer a re-design of a well-known site and put it in their portfolio. This is even a very good topic, except when you have signed a non-disclosure agreement.
Theoretically, they can still get to the bottom, for example, if you use their logo. And in the description of the work in the portfolio, it is best to clearly indicate that this is a "concept", that is, your thoughts on someone else's product, and not work for their company to order.
If you are sculpting concepts, then it is advisable to make a footnote that all images belong to their owners, etc.
Of course, since there are no contracts, the rights to work fully belong to you.
