Wear hard drives on start/stop?

There is a software raid0 on a home file washer, hard drives are the cheapest there and they have the appropriate noise during operation. Q: Do startups/shutdowns hurt hard drives?

Of course they hurt. This is called a "transitional process". Have you ever noticed that the light bulb always burns out when you turn it on ? And extremely rarely - burned-burned and stopped? During on-off, transient processes in the device lead to their wear, failure and failure. Use Dishman disks, yes in raid0 - yes, you, my friend, are extreme!
