Watch YouTube on Android tablet

Good afternoon, dear habra-community! The fact is that I am the happy owner of a Chinese tablet with OS Android v.4.1.1 installed. For me, the most important feature of this tablet is the ability to view streaming video on the web, and from YouTube in particular. But even with such not too large requests, I ran into a number of problems. I will describe in more detail.

The first option, which seemed to me the most preferable, is to install the official YouTube program from the market and watch through it. It seems to be a user-friendly interface, large buttons, a smart player, high quality video - what else do you need? But on my tablet, such a bug was discovered that when watching a video in high quality (the HD button is pressed), the stream is cached to certain limits, and then the download stops, while a rotating download circle is displayed on the screen in the center, which does not disappear over time. Depending on the quality of the uploaded video, the maximum that can be uploaded is around 1.5 minutes for 1080p, or about 3 minutes for 720p. I found that you can force the video to load further if you turn off the HD button, and then turn it back on. But it will load again up to 1.5-3 minutes and you will have to do this procedure again. This is all the more unpleasant because during such switching the video is slightly confused, and in some places the essence of the video is lost. Not to mention, it's just annoying to constantly reload videos. In general, I decided to try other options.

The second obvious option is to go to YouTube.com through your browser and watch through it. In general, the mobile version of the site, which the browser for the tablet displays by default, is also quite convenient, the navigation in the player (probably displayed not using flash, but using html5) is also flawless. But here the problem is somewhat different, namely the quality of the video. Despite the HD button being on, the video quality is 480p, with the HD button off, more like 240p. Watching in this quality on a high-resolution screen is not very pleasant, but at least the video loads normally. In general, I decided to try the third option.

And the third option is to watch YouTube.com through the browser on the PC version. That is, long live the standard flash-player. It should be noted that in this mode, even 1080p video loads without problems, not like in the first case, even if it lasts at least 1-2 hours. Of the big minuses - the flash player reacts very poorly to touching the touch screen. Often, it perceives pressing from 3-4 attempts. Closing annoying ads is just torture, more often you hit the banner itself with your finger, and not the close button. Rewind to the right moment of the video - almost no chance. The player hangs tightly if you pause it, put the tablet aside and wait until Android goes into standby mode. In general, you have to look in this form, although it is extremely uncomfortable.

Therefore, dear habravchans, can someone know how to solve the issue of watching YouTube and make it more comfortable? Ideally, it would not be possible to use the third option, but find a way to fix the situation in the first option (maybe there are alternative applications that do not have this drawback?), Or how to improve the video quality for the second option?

If possible, do not bother yourself, please, with answers like: “Buy yourself a normal iPad”, “I have the same one, everything works fine, WHAT?”.

Thanks in advance!

I have a Pipo M1, originally with Android 4.1.1, also had problems with YouTube until recently.
I didn’t want to look through the browser, I wanted it right - through the application, but it cached as described here and got stuck.
I found a solution - I installed the old version of the YouTube application with my hands from apk (I don’t remember the version number now), it showed great and caching did not get stuck. Application updates came out periodically, I set out to check if they fixed it. Each time I was convinced that it was getting stuck and rolled back to the old version.
Complete happiness came when the tablet manufacturer released a firmware update to Android 4.2.2. With it, among other things, a fresh YouTube application works correctly.
