VPN server L2TP / IPsec

Yesterday I read the article habrahabr.ru/post/153855/ and got the idea to protect myself when leaving through public access points (and in the light of the latest trends and laws, vpn is apparently necessary).
There is only one significant problem: the phone and tablet (the main devices from which you have to connect) of one fruit company do not support OpenVPN and there are no clients (I don’t consider jailbreak in principle). But out of the box it supports L2TP / IPsec.
There is a server on CentOS that can be used to create a vpn server.
Tell me how to organize it, or at least what software is better to use for this, so that you don’t have to pervert for a long time and catch unexpected bugs. (I understand that it’s easier to buy some kind of commercial VPN service, but still I want my own one :) )

For such needs, it is quite possible to use Tor and not raise anything yourself.

At one time, I raised xl2tpd + openswan under native (it was necessary to organize support for wines os x android iPhone), though under debian, there is no such thing under cent os?

@kemko

IPSec can openswan, about xl2tpd has already been suggested above. Although I seem to have read something about pptp having less overhead.
