Voting for articles is limited in time. What for?

I regularly find a bunch of interesting articles on Habré, but I can’t upvote them, because the time for voting has already passed. Why did they do that ?

I believe that disabling voting for the old article is correct. I’ll add the following to the above arguments: you can’t “downvote” or “upvote” a user by going minus (or plus) over all his comments and articles for all the time.
If the author wrote a really interesting or useful article in the past, you can always give him + in karma.

The first reason is that all posts should be in more or less equal conditions. Thanks to this, there is a rating of posts for all time . If the voting period were not limited, then old posts would have more votes than new ones.
The second reason is to encourage authors to write new posts. After all, the rating grows from pluses for posts, and if it is no longer possible to plus, then you have to write new posts in order to earn more ratings.
Perhaps there are other reasons as well.

The third reason is so that rare and unregistered readers can still see the rating for more or less recent articles. As you know, the rating to the very fresh is hidden for objectivity.
