For win8, this is still a well-known problem, but it can not connect for various reasons. You need to look at the logs, what exactly interferes: Verbose logging for VMware Infrastructure Client and vSphere Client
Has anything new been installed on a machine with win7 lately? Several times I met reviews that MS Visual Studio conflicts with vSphere Client. Or like here .
