Yes, it seems that all version control systems can (or are configured), and when you try to see changes between two versions of an MS WORD document, they automatically open two versions of the document in Word with its internal document comparison mechanism.
So, in any case, TortoiseSvn works right out of the box.

Comparison of documents (versions) is a built-in feature of MS Word. Search under Review > Compare.

SourceTree shows diff for .docx files, but only for text elements.
