Upwork time counter?

Hello. And how do they check on upwork that if the counter is running, the work is really being done? After all, I can, for example, do something leftist, how is it controlled? Well, or, for example, 2 hours to think about one mistake that occurred through my fault (or is this included in the payment?)

The tracker takes screenshots of the screen at random times + takes into account a certain activity rating (mouse and keyboard events).
The client sees the work diary - 1 screenshot for every 10 minutes.
It is also possible to include webcam snapshots, but this is probably for off-screen work or a requirement-indicator of a potentially problematic client.
The payment includes everything that you and the client decide to include in the payment.
For me, for example, it's a common thing to turn on the tracker and walk around the room discussing the problem.

Another tip based on my own experience when a client returned money from an upwork through a stick (and those from me). Be sure to write in the comments what you are doing, because I tracked the time, but in the end, when the client returned the money via paypal, the upwork removed them from my internal account - I did not fit under their protection program, because I did not fill out the comments.

Screenshots are taken for this all the time
Well, any work must be scored and then you must explain to the customer how they are justified if they do not live up to expectations
It is clear that two extra hours will not surprise him

The tracker records activity every 10 minutes. An activity is a mouse movement/click or a keyboard click. From experience, it takes a couple of clicks or a few keystrokes during this period. Those. in this case, the activity will be recorded and will be paid. However, in the diary, your employer will be able to see your activity. And here it already depends on your customer - whether he will take into account several clicks for activity or not. I think he can mark a period of low activity and not pay for it (I'm not 100% sure, but I'm sure there is some kind of mechanism).
