Unable to expand disk in VirtualBox??

Hello everybody! There is a 20 GB Windows XP virtual disk.
When trying to increase the disk size to any value, it says:

Failed to change the media size
Details:

Error code: VBOX_E_NOT_SUPPORTED(0X80BB0009)
Component: MediumWrap
Interface: IMedium {ad47ad09-787b-44ab-b343-a082afdfb1}

Converted to vmdk, still does not increase .

PS There is enough space on the disk. Free 280 GB

This seems to only work for dynamically expanding .vdi disks. With the current disk type, you can only copy data to a new disk of the correct type.
