The ideal antivirus for a virtual machine - what is it?

Just demolished avast from a virtual machine (vbox, win7), which ate a lot of processor, and most importantly, constantly wrote a log; At the same time, there was some kind of insane disk activity, I sat working under the endless crunch of the HDD.

Of course, I am familiar with Internet security techniques, but I would not want to leave a completely defenseless OS.

In general, advise, please, something to replace it, so that it eats little and at least somehow protects.

If for a virtual machine "at home", then Microsoft will be enough.
If under a hypervisor, then with API support for this hypervisor in order to check "from the inside".

To begin with, do not use the OS most susceptible to infection.

I switched from avast to AVG, I don’t notice it at all, in my opinion it’s an ideal antivirus, it does its job and doesn’t ask to be noticed.

What are you afraid of?
- the virus will damage files and OS
- steal data
- insert ads somewhere
- give someone remote access

you should write that you are using Linux as the main OS, and Windu is only in the virtual machine.
Personally, I did a dual boot. I need to play around - it's still not cool in the virtual machine, I reboot into Windows. Everything else is in Linux. And you don't need a virtual machine.
