Is it possible to run a real Linux in a virtual machine from an adjacent partition?

Let me explain the idea. There are two sections, on one there is one distribution kit of Linux (Arch), on the second another (Ubuntu). I want to run the second one (Ubuntu) in the virtual machine running in the first one (Arch), but in such a way that when I reboot into the second distribution kit (Ubuntu) it will be fully functional. Is it possible to?

KVM can do this. ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1361375 something like this if you have libvirtd.

It's possible with VirtualBox or VMWare Workstation
Here's how to do VirtualBox's true oltcm option with Windows as the host, but the gist is the same
